Privacy and analytics
You can play without an account, and the game never asks for your name or email. With your consent we count how rounds are played, so we can see where the game is too hard or confusing. If you say no, the game works exactly the same.
Who is responsible
This game is an independent, non-commercial project run by Mark Kholodov (contact by email only). For any privacy question, write to markkholodov27@gmail.com.
What is stored on your device
The game keeps the following in your browser. None of it is sent to us unless it is said below.
You can erase all of it in your browser settings; your progress will then start from the beginning.
- Game progress and settings: completed rounds, number of attempts, theme, sound and music settings, and whether you have already seen the tutorial and hints.
- Your analytics choice (yes or no).
- The language you chose, in one cookie named metro-locale (12 months). It is the only cookie the game sets, and it only remembers the language.
- An unfinished round, until you close the tab.
- Only if you agree to analytics: a random browser ID (kept up to 12 months after your last visit), a session ID (a session ends after 30 minutes of inactivity) and the tags of the link you arrived through.
Optional analytics
Only if you agree, we record: the random browser and session IDs, the game version, the screen type (phone, tablet or computer), the interface language, which rounds you start and finish and whether you solve them or give up, how many attempts you make, which hints you open, music and theme switches, and the cities you guess (picked from the built-in list; wrong guesses are kept with the city name so we can see common mistakes).
We also record where you came from: the campaign tags in the link (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term) and the domain of the website that sent you, without its path or parameters. Before you answer, this is kept only in the page's memory.
These records are pseudonymous: they contain no name, but the random ID links visits from the same browser.
We do not store your name, email, IP address (in the game database), anything you type, your browser's User-Agent, your location, advertising IDs or a device fingerprint. When you answer the analytics question, we add 1 to a daily total of yes or no answers; that total has no ID and cannot be linked to you.
Why we use data
To see how many people play, which rounds are hardest, which mistakes are common, whether hints are used and how far players get, and then improve the game. Optional analytics rests on your consent, which you can refuse or withdraw at any time. Running and securing the website, and reading the feedback you choose to send, rest on our legitimate interest in operating the game.
How long data is kept
Raw analytics events are deleted after 90 days. The browser record (random ID and first-visit tags) is deleted 12 months after your last visit, together with the progress summaries and wrong-answer counts linked to it. Daily yes and no totals have no ID and are kept. Feedback is kept for as long as it is useful for improving the game, or until you ask us to delete it.
Your choices
You can refuse analytics when asked, or later switch it off by clearing your browser storage. If you have agreed, the button below deletes the analytics records linked to this browser from our database and removes the ID from your device. If you cleared your storage or use another device, we can no longer tell which records are yours; write to markkholodov27@gmail.com and tell us what you remember. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier processing.
Feedback
When you send feedback through the form, we store your message, the attachment if you add one (an image, PDF or text file up to 1 MB), the time, the language and the page you wrote from. Feedback sent from the final screen also includes your game results. We do not ask for your name or email, so please write only what you want to share and do not include sensitive information. Feedback is read by the author and is not linked to analytics.
Hosting and other services
The site runs on Cloudflare (hosting, network and database). To deliver and protect the site, Cloudflare processes technical connection data, including your IP address, under its own privacy policy. Our game database is hosted in Cloudflare's European region; the exact location is chosen by Cloudflare. Because Cloudflare is a global provider, data may be processed outside your country.
The game uses no advertising, no third-party analytics and no social media widgets. Maps, photos and fonts are served from this site. Links to sources open other websites, which have their own policies.
Your rights
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your data, to object to its use, to receive it in a portable format and to withdraw consent. To make a request, write to markkholodov27@gmail.com. Where applicable, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The game is not aimed at children and does not ask for personal information. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, for example in feedback, write to markkholodov27@gmail.com and we will delete it.
